Ever since tanks were invented a little over 110 years ago, there have been all manner of control systems using for steering. Stopping or slowing one set of tracks while the other is going has involved numerous systems including dual-drive, twin transmission, clutch braking, differential braking, double differential, Maybach double differential, Merritt-Brown triple differential and even experiments with electric transmissions, track warping and epicyclic gearboxes. The controls that the driver used were usually some form of double lever arrangement, wheel, yoke, or something resembling motorbike handlebars.

Of course one of the most common was the dual lever arrangement used to control a clutch steering system, as used on the Soviet T-34. This was the most produced tank of World War II, with over 80,000 being built. The second most produced tank of that era was the M4 Sherman which also used two levers, but with a controlled differential system.

So we come to the present day and we're driving tanks in War Thunder, World of Tanks and many other games using...  A plastic keyboard and the buttons W, A, S and D to drive our tank. Seriously?

Naturally, there had to be a better way. Well, at least one that is a lot more realistic both in terms of authenticity and speed of gameplay.

Thus, the T-68 Mk II was born. A new controller for a new way of playing, or rather an old style of driving. And since we're trying to be authentic, why not make it out of steel and aluminium, just like the real thing!

So now you can drive your tank just like a real one.
